Although The Condemned is a very dark and violent movie, which is definitely not for everyone, there are essential life lessons which are presented in the film. It presents the problem of degrading human values for money, people giving power to other people, unlimited greed, and how a collective effort can stop violent acts.
The whole concept of the movie would not work without people giving power to other people. There would be no reality show if millions had not logged in to watch it. This gave the show creator even more reasons to be greedy, and continued to display the horrible material.
Unfortunately, if greed is not controlled by natural human emotions, there is no limit. At the end of the movie, the producer reached such a level of greed that he was willing to kill members of his crew for maximum profit. This is truly an act of a desperate and condemned man, making the producer worse than the criminals themselves.
On a positive note, mass violence can be stopped with a collective effort. In violent movies, many characters refuse to participate in events like this, where they are forced to commit violence against their own will. If enough people resent the violence, it can be stopped altogether.
Movies like the Condemned have a very hard shell. But if you dig down deep enough, you will find hidden messages that raise awareness of problems in our world today. Violence is one of the many, along with greed and the need to control others. Fortunately, it can all be stopped through collective effort.
