In 10 Items or Less, Morgan Freeman describes himself as a connector. A person who is connected to him/herself, as well as others; and has the power to help others connect with themselves through social relations. In the movie, Morgan Freeman meets Scarlet. She is a young grocery store employee, but Freeman sees that she has great potential, and is really aspiring to be much more. Freeman helps Scarlet see inside herself, and she moves closer to where she truly wants to be in life. This is all achieved through the power of connection, and the impact of one individual on others.
Social Relations are very important. A positive person can dissolve the negative energy of those around him/her, just by being present. Morgan Freeman knew Scarlet was special when he saw her, so he interacted in a way which only benefited her. It is important to deal with others through their point of view. Then, others will be open to your own view.
The impact that one person can have on others is unlimited. Freeman had a tremendous impact on Scarlet, which can be seen throughout the movie. When she applied to be a secretary, she was unmotivated and ready to quit. However, Freeman would not let her, and used encouragement instead of punishment. Most people prefer incentives and encouragement to threats and scolding. Morgan Freeman used his power of connection to benefit others, and allowed Scarlet to use her willpower when she needed it most.
Being connected to yourself makes you connected to others. When you are connected to others, the impact that you have on them is limitless. Strong connections lead to strong friendships.
