Although many people have never heard of The Band’s Visit, it has some great life messages which are conveyed in a very humorous attitude. The first is the importance of being kind to strangers, because you don’t know what role a present stranger might play in your future life. The second message is getting along with others; regardless of race, color, religion, or appearance.
A very important skill in personal relations is making a good first impression. Kindness is a good way to be greatly respected by others. In The Band’s Visit, the band gets lost, and must find a place to sleep overnight. Dina kindly offers to let the band sleep in her restaurant, and in her friends house. By extending her arm for compassion, she gained the respect of a great band, and had an emotional connection. You never know what might result from random acts of kindness towards strangers. Be friendly, it makes the world a better place.
Another aspect of social development covered in The Band’s Visit is getting along with others. The entire band was Arabic (from Egypt), and spending the night in a Hebrew community. Despite the religious differences between the two groups, they are able to get along and share advice with each other. Had the not gotten along due to religious differences, a movie like this could not have been made. The Bands Visit proves that religion should have no implication on how people act towards each other. Unfortunately, this is not currently the case in real life. Forget our difference, let’s celebrate our similarities!
The Band’s Visit is a great example of a foreign comedy which teaches social relations. Being kind to strangers, and getting along with others are two of the many messages on social relations seen in the film. In order to improve the way we interact, we should absorb the knowledge given to us in great movies like these.

IMHO, intelligent conversation is almost always face-to-face conversation. Too much meaning is conveyed through physical gestures and facial expressions, and all that is lost on the net. But why i am bothering the leave a comment? I like irony! :)…
Hello Insight for Living,
I agree with your statement. However, I write because I truly enjoy the topics of philosophy/psychology, and it is the main way I can express it to others. I enjoy talking very much, but writing is a fine alternative, even though it is tough to convey emotions.
Thanks for the comment!
Josh.
