Although many people have never heard of The Band’s Visit, it has some great life messages which are conveyed in a very humorous attitude. The first is the importance of being kind to strangers, because you don’t know what role a present stranger might play in your future life. The second message is getting along with others; regardless of race, color, religion, or appearance. A very important skill in personal relations is making a good first impression. Kindness is a good way to be greatly respected by others. In The Band’s Visit, the...

Simon Pegg stars in another comedy, and this time it has a great purpose. Run Fatboy Run is about finishing what you have started, not letting any obstacles keep you down, and using love as motivation. All of these elements are related to running in this movie; which shows some great examples of motivation. A verbal commitment is made by Dennis to all of his friends that he will finish running a full marathon. Throughout the movie, he faces criticism and doubt from others, which nearly causes him to change his mind about running the marathon. It isn’t...

Baby Mama?! What life lessons can be extracted from a crude comedy with SNL Characters Tina Fey and Amy Poehler? Surprisingly, there are quite a few throughout the movie. The first lessons in Baby Mama is the need for people to feel important; even lying to obtain the feeling. Another life lesson is the importance of making friends with acquaintances. The final lessons is found in many movies, and it is the element of forgiveness. Baby Mama is a fun comedy, also filled with life lessons. Recommended for fans of positive-themed movies. It is in natural human...

Sometimes our everyday lives can get hectic; overrun by stress, chaos, or violence. In Ofelia’s case, escape may seem like the most reasonable solution, and if you have imagination as vivid as Ofelia, it may be a temporary solution to your problems. However, since escape is only a temporary solution, you will eventually have to face your problems head-on to get rid of them. In Pan’s Labyrinth, Ofelia created an imaginary world of creatures to escape from an ongoing Civil War battle in Spain. Her mother is also sick, and Ofelia imagines a magic...

Peaceful Warrior is an inspiring movie which teaches us to listen to our spirit guides, because they will always lead us in the right direction. Socrates was a physical manifestation of Dan Millmans spirit guide. Sensing that Dan was headed in a bad direction, Socrates taught his philosophy to Dan. Some of the lessons that are taught throughout the film are living in the present moment, and doing what you love most. Socrates wanted to teach Dan to ‘clean out the garbage’ from his mind, and become inclined to live in the present moment. For example,...

Although “Be Kind, Rewind” may seem farfetched at first, it takes about an hour to fully develop. Only then, will you find a great film filled with heart, and an inspiring message. Always follow your intuition, follow through on your ideas without getting discouraged, and don’t use a sour situation as an excuse. Jerry and Mike come up with an idea to ‘remake’ popular films. Although short on cash and resources, they are able to follow through on their idea. Soon after, they become popular in their local community, and are flooded...

As an aspiring public speaker, I love movies like The Great Debaters. They cause feelings of awe for the hardships that the characters have overcome in order to achieve their goals. In The Great Debaters, a local college debate team overcomes many challenges in order to reach the rank of #1 in the nation. Great Debaters covers many life issues, including aspects of personal development and the motivation of winning. Henry Lowe (Nate Parker) is shown as a troublemaker, with poor life aspirations. But Melvin Tolson (Denzel Washington) sees into his soul, and...

Resurrecting the Champ was a pleasant surprise for a movie; the acting of Josh Hartnett is exceptional, and Samuel L. Jackson is great as usual. The movie contains such an array of life lessons; what it takes to be a hero to yourself and those you love. It also covers the issue of forgiveness, and how important it is to forgive those who have wronged you. Finally, it teaches that while others may try to deceit/trick you, everyone is just looking out for their own best interests. Champ (Jackson) is not who we originally thought he was. In fact, he is pretending...
