Deweyboy, thank you for your insightful comment, and for bringing a new point of view in the equation!

K-Pax is one of the most open-ended films I have ever seen. I do understand that there are many holes in my theory, but that is how I saw it. If Prot were actually an alien, and K-Pax was a physical location, it would take away a lot of the 'psychological magic' in this movie, and turn it into a more traditional film.

I believe that Bess's disappearance was more symbolic than anything else.

The appeal of K-Pax, is its ability to be broadly interpreted. I believe that Prot's inability to react to drugs, etc, is also a part of the whole 'spiritual' symbolism of his existence.

Thanks again for the comment!

I disagree. K-Pax is a planet, orbiting Agapi and Satori. Its inhabitants are not necessarily corporeal beings like us, they can inhabit other beings that are corporeal to take on a corporeal form. The disappearance of bess explains this theory. Prot switched bodies from Robert Porter to Bess, and took her to K-Pax. It is possible that all inhabitants may be required to inhabit a corporeal form at some point of their evolution, like a symbiant in a host.

This explains his astromonical knowledge, his traveling, his ability to see the ultraviolet light, his inability to react to the drugs.

Your theory does not adequately overcome these questions.

Plus the idea of him being an off-worlder makes more sense logically then your's does. You imply a religion (god gave bess a physical body), your theory assumes the existance of said diety when there is less of a chance probability of one existing, whereas my theory accepts the idea that other civilizations exist, something more likely.
